Technical Lead, Owner

RealSmart Tech LLC

RealSmart is my "catch-all" shop for personal project work.  As the owner, I have the privilege of providing technical consulting services to a diverse range of clients, from small businesses and start-ups to Fortune 500 companies, demonstrating technical and strategic agility across varied business landscapes.

For Procter & Gamble, I led the design, development, and integration of a comprehensive research database interface, successfully coordinating with offshore development teams to ensure seamless execution.

For a high performing hedge fund, I crafted a custom analytics dashboard tailored to their global financial activity research needs.

These experiences highlight my capabilities in leading complex projects, fostering international collaborations, and delivering bespoke solutions that cater to specific client needs.

Senior Data Engineer, Solutions Lead

Agility Partners

As a contractor at Cardinal Health and Fifth Third Bank, I led a team of five individuals in the development of a critical BigQuery data mart and a tableau analytics dashboard, proving instrumental for supply chain data operations.

I also played a key role in the migration of legacy mainframe data models to a more modern and efficient AWS cloud data warehouse.

Moreover, I offered expertise in consulting on best practices for data pipeline management, specifically focusing on optimal multi-cloud resource consumption related to bank acquisitions.

This experience highlights my ability to positively contribute to technical policy at large organizations while performing and managing critical operations.

Cloud Data Engineer

Zartico

At Zartico, I took the initiative to revamp the organization's cloud data strategy, utilizing Python, Spark, BigQuery, and Apache Airflow within a cloud-deployed CI/CD environment. This strategic overhaul streamlined the existing architecture for the business' core product, contributing to significant engineering time savings and directly resulting in a 7-figure reduction in cloud costs.

Additionally, I designed and developed a full-stack "heads-up alerting" dashboard, which greatly enhanced analyst workflow and fostered proactive data quality identification.

I learned many lessons from this experience, especially that big data can get expensive, yet an actively managed data architecture yields significant cost savings.

Data Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer

Riverside Research

I developed large-scale ETL processes and constructed TensorFlow models tailored for field-grade imagery identification within machine learning applications. These efforts further enhanced our capabilities in advanced image recognition and data processing.

I successfully delivered several product presentations to our Department of Defense clients.
These effectively communicated sophisticated machine learning prototypes for sensor data processing.

This experience underscored my abilities in presenting complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively, while contributing to the development of cutting-edge machine learning applications.

Data Scientist

Aviso Retention

At Aviso Retention, I led significant improvements to the organization's retention model accuracy, achieving a ~5% increase across our customer base, as measured by internal true-positive retention accuracy metrics. This achievement was coupled with a substantial simplification of code and integration processes, streamlining the overall workflow.

To further elevate our operational standards, I spearheaded the implementation of data accessibility best practices within the organization, notably including the establishment of a federated cloud-hosted database and transition from legacy SAS-based predictive models.

These initiatives underscore my dedication to delivering data-driven solutions and fostering a culture of best practice within the organization.

Jr Data Scientist

Booz Allen Hamilton

Upon joining Booz Allen Hamilton, I was met with a challenging environment where the needs of the project rapidly evolved. The focus shifted from data science work to a pressing need for UI testing and bug fixing. Embracing this change, I capitalized on the opportunity to expand my skillset in Java and AngularJS. I applied these newly acquired skills to support the team, implementing comprehensive unit testing modules across the codebase to ensure system stability and integrity.

Despite the contract being discontinued within four months of my joining due to a conflict of interest within the intelligence community, I am appreciative of the learning experience it offered.

This short, yet intense stint at BAH instilled in me the ability to rapidly adapt and learn in a fluid environment, while still making meaningful contributions to the team.
